Chocolate peanut butter bars are a classic, yummy treat. Amazingly easy to make, these rich and tasty bars require no baking and with a couple of substitutions, they can be easily made kosher as well. Peanut butter is mixed with graham cracker crumbs, so that chocolate peanut butter bars get crunchy and almost irresistible. The graham crackers will also help them keep their shape. This recipe makes a delicious confection, a great choice for your dessert after a meal, for breakfast or for a quick but energetic snack. After your workout, or simply if you need a boost, these protein bars will be the perfect substitute to those bars containing 6 grams of protein. These bars are a classic of kids’ cooking adventures and home economics classes. Enjoy!
1 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 cup peanut butter
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
4 tablespoons peanut butter
Take a medium bowl and mix together the butter (or margarine if you prefer), confectioners’ sugar, graham cracker crumbs and 1 cup peanut butter, until well blended. Press evenly into the bottom of an ungreased pan, then melt the chocolate chips with the peanut butter in a metal bowl over simmering water, or in the microwave.
Sir occasionally until the ingredients are very smooth. Spread over the prepared crust and refrigerate for at least one hour (two hours will be much better) before cutting into squares. Your chocolate peanut butter bars are ready to be served.
